Our hand made outdoor rugs are made by an ancient technique from the Orient by Sawgrass Mills Outdoor Rugs. Sawgrass Mills only makes high quality hand hooked outdoor rugs and is an expert in what it takes to make the perfect outdoor rug. Sawgrass Mills Outdoor rugs are as durable as they are luxurious. Made from Duracord, a 21 st century synthetic fiber made to look and feel like cotton, these rugs will be the focal point of any outdoor or indoor setting and will remain beautiful for years to come.
To make a Sawgrass Mills rug, first the pattern is stenciled onto a waterproof synthetic canvas that has been stretched over a wooden frame. Then the oriental craftsmen hand hook the Duracord yarns into this base fabric to bring life to the design using rudimentary tools as has been done for centuries. 
After several craftsmen have spent days meticulously hand hooking the design, waterproof glue is spread over the back of the rug to lock the yarns in place and to laminate a more rigid mesh to give the rug the stability to maintain its shape.
